The Renegade Pub Football League is a community football league played at Victoria Park in Abbotsford. It comprises of eight teams representing pubs across Melbourne's inner north. On Saturday The Merri Creek Tavern Bats played Lomond Hotel Barracudas, Old Bar Unicorns played The Tote and Workers Club Lions played The Stingo Easybeats.
The Seat of Northcote
The Victorian election is drawing ever closer. In this article we look at previous election results in the State seat of Northcote, Federal seat of Cooper and the former Federal seat of Batman.
The Greens have been battling against Labor in the federal seat of Cooper for over a decade. Looking at the graph below which shows results up to the 2019 Federal election. Show a dramatic fall in the Greens' vote.
Then if you look at the State seat of Northcote the Greens won the seat briefly after a 2017 by-election with Lidia Thorpe (now a Senator for Victoria) winning. The Greens then lost the seat in the 2018 election against current MP Kat Theophanous. The Greens' drop in votes around 2018/2019 has been attributed by many, to conflict within the party.
Looking at the results from the 2022 Federal election the Greens seem to be back on track, picking up 3 lower house seats in Queensland, going from 1 lower house seat to 4. In the seat of Cooper The gap between Labor and The Greens tightened.
The seat of Northcote is more progressive than Cooper, Meaning The Greens look to have a definite chance this election, of course we will get a better picture closer to November 26.
Man charged with murder over death of woman in Northcote
Man charged after 51 year old woman found dead in Northcote residence.
Police have released a statement after a man has been charged with murder over the death of a woman in Northcote.
The statement reads:
"Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 52-year-old Northcote man following the death of a woman in Northcote Wednesday night.
Emergency services were called to a residence on Brickworks Lane after the body of a 51-year-old woman was located by a family member shortly before 8pm on 30 November.
The 52-year-old man has been charged with murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday 2 December.
